Danilyn Rutherford is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Chicago and author of Raiding the Land of the Foreigners: The Limits of the Nation on an Indonesian Frontier (2003). She is currently completing a book on nationalism, colonialism, and the idea of an audience in West Papua. Her next project will focus on technology, governance, and the idea of the “Stone Age” in colonial New Guinea.
