Didier Fassin is a professor at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales and at the Université Paris Nord. He is the director of the Interdisciplinary Research Institute in Social Sciences and the former vice president of Médecins sans frontières France. Among his recent books are De la question sociale à la question raciale? Représenter la société française (with Éric Fassin, 2006); L’empire du traumatisme: Enquête sur la condition de victime (with Richard Rechtman, 2007); and When Bodies Remember: Experience and Politics of AIDS in South Africa (2007).
