Stathis Gourgouris is professor of comparative literature at the Institute of Comparative Literature and Society and the Department of Classics at Columbia University. He is the author of Dream Nation (1996) and Does Literature Think? (2003) and editor of Freud and Fundamentalism (forthcoming). His next book, The Perils of the One, is a critique of political theology.
